Standard contractual clauses

Standard contractual clauses (SCCs) are pre-approved model clauses allowing organisations of all sizes to lawfully transfer personal data outside the EU, ensuring the protection of personal data according to EU standards. The most common SCCs were adopted by the European Commission, after a joint opinion of the EDPB and the EDPS. DPAs may also adopt SCCs, which require a consistency opinion by the EDPB and approval by the European Commission. Organisations may also use ad hoc clauses for transfers, which must be authorised by the competent DPA, after a consistency opinion by the EDPB.
