Accountability and Compliance tools

The principle of accountability requires organisations to be responsible for, and be able to demonstrate compliance with the GDPR. Organisations can use compliance tools such as codes of conduct, certification, binding corporate rules, and data protection impact assessments; they can also appoint data protection officers. This helps to handle personal data responsibly and build trust with individuals. The EDPB’s consistency opinions support the development and implementation of effective compliance tools. Existing compliance tools and EDPB consistency opinions are listed in our Register.
