EU information systems

On this page

EU information systems are large-scale centralised IT systems which collect, process, and share information, in particular on security, migration, and external border management. These systems are essential to enhance cooperation and some of them crucial to manage European’s external borders and migration flows. Examples include the Schengen Information System, the Visa Information System, the Entry/Exit System, and the European Travel Information and Authorisation System.
The Coordinated Supervision Committee (CSC), a group of DPAs and the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS), ensures the coordinated supervision of some of the EU information systems, as well as of some EU bodies, offices and agencies such as the EU Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation - Eurojust. The CSC is established within the framework of the EDPB.
