Template for personal data breach notification
This template is primarily designed to be implemented by DPAs via an IT tool. It incorporates rules to collect certain information only when necessary. It includes predefined values and recommended tooltips to facilitate the answering for organisations. The template is subject to a public consultation, providing stakeholders with the opportunity to share their comments and feedback on the content of the template. Following the public consultation, the EDPB will decide on the timeline for the practical implementation of the template by all DPAs.

The European Data Protection Board welcomes comments on the Template for personal data breach notification.
Such comments should be sent on 05 August 2026 at the latest using the provided form.
Please note that, by submitting your comments, you acknowledge that your comments will be published on the EDPB website.
