Think before sharing your child’s life online

The campaign uses a video and an infographic to illustrate how seemingly harmless social media posts can reveal sensitive information about children, including their identity, location, routines and relationships. It highlights the potential risks of oversharing, such as loss of privacy, misuse of images, unwanted contact, identity theft and harm to children’s future online reputation. The campaign also provides practical advice to help parents make informed decisions about what they share and respect their children’s privacy and consent.

The DPC also ran a campaign on sharenting in 2023 called 'Back to school, pause before you post', highlighting the importance of protecting children’s privacy when sharing content about them online. An accompanying infographic is available here.
