Know your rights and have your say – classroom resources on data protection

Empower your students to understand data protection

This initiative helps teachers explore with their students the concept of personal data and data protection rights in a social media context. These materials were developed, with the support of the Irish Ombudsman for Children’s Office (OCO), for use in the classroom with children and young people aged eight and above.  

Materials include:

• Children’s Consultation poster
• Children’s Consultation schools pack
• Lesson plan slides

Although developed in 2019 as part of a children’s consultation, the materials can still be used to encourage classroom discussion and reflection on privacy and personal data.
